Well let me prepare you from the very beginning, this is gonna be one hell of a long blog! During our 3 day stay in Bratislava the most thing we did was probably eat. Unfortunately we did not really have Slavic food. Reason being? We actually found some typical Hungarian food, which we die for. As a lot of you might know, my husband is Hungarian so you can imagine how excited he was that after almost a year (from the last time we went to Hungary). Probably, Slovakia inherited Hungarian food since it used to be part of Hungary. But now, lets start with out endless food experience in Slovakia.
"The food is simply to die for!"
Cafes
One thing you should know is that every cafeteria we visited for coffee, they always served it with water straight away.
->Mondieu Cafe

It must be noted that there are 3 cafeterias right next to each other owned by Mondieu Cafe. They are not all the same. One is more as a cafeteria, one is for food and the other one caters for vegans.
During Our Stay we visited this cafe twice. It was simply amazing, both food and the service. The first time we went there we had a hot chocolate (they have 3 types - white, milk and dark) an espresso with chocolate and freshly roasted nuts, a croissant with milk chocolate dressing and stuffed omelette.
Hot chocolate: € 4.50
Espresso with chocolate and freshly roasted nuts: € 3.20
Freshly baked croissant: € 1.40
Stuffed omelette: € 7.20
The second time we went to the one which serves food and we decided to go for some drinks. We took a Mango Ginger Cocktail and a White hot chocolate with forest fruits. From my side, the cocktail was not exactly how I was expecting. I like to have that strong mango flavor with a hint of ginger, but this one was more ginger than mango. On the other hand, the hot chocolate was as expected and even better!
Mango Ginger Cocktail: €4.20
White hot-chocolate with forest fruits: €4.90

->Vespa Cafeteria
This coffee shop was situated right in the street where we were staying. It was a small
cafeteria with very good prices and most of all good coffee. A cappuccino and an iced coffee cost us €3.20. What made this place so unique is that since its name is Vespa Cafeteria, they had a wallpaper of a Vespa and also a small collection of different Vespa scooters.
Location: Moskovská 2657/1, 811 08 Bratislava, Slovakia
->Urban House Cafe
The Urban House Cafe is situated in Bratislava's City Center, just a few meters away from Mondieu Cafe. As a coffee shop it is very cosy and welcoming. It has a retro-ruin style and it also has shelves with books which you can pick one and read, while you are having a cup of coffee. We had a coconut cold brew and a cappuccino, costing €7.10. Honestly, it was not as good. The brew was too sour, those who actually tasted proper cold brew will know what I am talking about. Also the cappuccino needed a bit of sugar. You may tell me: "but you can add sugar according to your taste", yes true, but they did not have the normal sugar which we are used to, they had this like sugar syrup. Although the drinks were not our favourites I must say that the service was great, very quick and the waitress was very nice.

Restaurants
->Restaurica Devin
As the name implies the restaurant which I am going to discuss next is found at the edge of Devin Castle. We were over the moon when we noticed that they had Hungarian food. So we went ahead and ordered what is known as Kolbász, we only ordered one as we decided to share it since we were going to visit another restaurant that evening and damn we did the right thing. As it can be seen in the photo below, the portion was huge (the hand in the photo is for comparison) and it was also delicious! We also ordered some lemonade which was very good as well. I had the mango ginger lemonade and my husband had a strawberry mint lemonade.
We highly recommend to visit this restaurant!
Total: €16.70
Tip: When eating such food served with for example pickles, do eat it as it is served in order to help digestion, since it's a heavy food.

->UFO Bridge/Tower
In the evening for my birthday we opted to go to a more high end restaurant and this one was indeed one of those places. Since it is this kind of restaurant do not expect that is was cheap, not even the slightest, but we do not regret going there. We booked our table a few days before via email (reception@u-f-o.sk) and we were given one of the best tables, right next to the window looking over the Danube River and the Bratislava Castle. The service was exceptional and the food was mind blowing. We ordered forest fruit non-alcoholic cocktails (€ 6 each), milk fed lamb (€35) and duck breast (€33). Along with our order we were served a Beetroot drink , 3 different types of bread, 2 heart shaped chocolates and 2 fruit muffins.
When you have dinner at the restaurant you can visit the observation deck free of charge.
The best time to go is at Sunset. Reason being is that you see everything in daylight, and at night you see all the lights , plus after all sunsets are romantic!
You can also do a UFO sky walk at a charge of €39 (although sometimes they also have offers) where you walk around the UFO tower from the outside, obviously with all the protection needed.
Note: It is not suitable for children, in fact, they do not even have a kids menu.

We visited this restaurant after visiting the Bratislava Castle as it is right at the edge of it. We

also wanted to try it as we read in a travel blog that is was cheap, good food and nice atmosphere (posted back in 2017). In our opinion for the price we paid, it was not that worth it. We took 2 peach ice teas, Chicken breast with grilled vegetables and baked potatoes (which was a bit dry) and Mangalica steak normally with pumpkin puree but my husband decided to have it with mashed potatoes and chest nuts. That amounted to €39 while back in 2017 for 2 people, main dish, desert and wine was €38, plus it was nothing out of the ordinary. Also the waiters were not very friendly. The only thing we really enjoyed was that at the entrance you find a very cute African Grey Bird called Amber who is 12 years old and the fact that the restaurant was in a cave.

Street Food
->Kebab Kiosk
As I have mentioned in my first blog about Bratislava we arrived quite late. Since where we

were staying was close to a considerable amount of restaurants, we thought it would be a good idea to wonder around on foot and have our dinner in the first restaurant we find. Unfortunately this what not what actually happened. Most of the restaurants nearby close latest at 11pm (which we are not used to it as in Malta restaurants even stay open till like 1am). I guess the main reason was that we were a little bit away from the city center. We were tired and we were not planning on catching any public transport to go eat. So we cam across this Kebab Kiosk, which at first I was not so sure of, but then again, I was hungry and it was my only choice. I must say, I was wrong about doubting it. I took a kebab box, which had chicken kebab, fries, salad and a dressing, and my husband had 2 hot dogs with mustard. It was one hell of a great cheap meal. The kebab box was more worth it than the hot dogs as he was still hungry .
Kebab box: €4.50
Hot dog: €1
Open till 1am
->Bratislava Langos
![](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/72918c_7ae1c22867b741f79a95c25f467e840e~mv2.jpg/v1/fill/w_864,h_648,al_c,q_85,enc_auto/72918c_7ae1c22867b741f79a95c25f467e840e~mv2.jpg)
Oh my God! The goodness of the Langos from this place cannot be described in words. This is another Hungarian food and when my husband tasted it, his first reaction was: "I'm living my childhood again!". It is very cheap and very good. The basic Langos cost €1.80. It is usually with garlic, cheese and sour cream. I know it is a bit of a weird combination, but trust me, its mouth watering! Cannot recommend this place enough.
