Best way to save money on food

As everyone knows, Switzerland is one of the most expensive countries. But, we also managed to find a solution on how to enjoy it and yet be aware of how much we spend. I think the most thing that helped us not spend a lot of money on food - which we suggest it to all those who are reading this blog - is that when we visited Mont Blanc in France, on our way back we stopped at Migros Supermarket and got the food we needed for a whole week. Meaning proper means for everyday, some things which we wanted to try out since they are not available in Malta/Hungary and we got some deserts. All this for added up to €45, which is very good. Thus, we saved a lot of money than if we had to buy the same things from the same supermarket in Switzerland - especially Gevenva.


Restaurants

This does not mean that we did not visit a single restaurant throughout our stay. On the contrary, we managed to go to 2 restaurant - 1 in Lucerne and 1 in Geneva - after all this was

our Honeymoon!

  • Les Armures Restaurant (Geneva) - When visiting Switzerland, it is a must to try the cheese fondue. For those who do not know what this is: basically it is melted cheese served with bread - obviously their traditional cheese not any cheese. It is simply mouth watering. The restaurant is a past of a hotel. The service was exceptional and the staff was very friendly.

  • Rathaus Brauerei (Lucerne) - This restaurant is situated next to River Reuss. It is a great location to have a nice lunch. We ordered: sour cabbage and sausages & half a chicken with potatoes. We enjoyed every bite especially the soured cabbage and the sausages since we do not have something similar back home. The sour cabbage reminded me a bit of Hungary (as they do have it). It was simply delicious and the staff was also nice.
